About Girl in the Garage

Girl in the Garage was established a few of years ago when I decided to change my career path by resigning from my management position in a highly stressful industry, and nurse my terminally ill father.  During that time, and with my Dads blessing and encouragement, I had more of an opportunity to pursue my love of art and craft and learnt several new crafting techniques, and thus transforming my garage into my new Art Studio.  I started collected (hoarding) preloved furniture and was given lots of furniture from friends and family. I started painting again and revamped each piece of furniture Shabby Chic style, transforming each piece into something special, sometimes unrecognisable, but ultimately transforming each piece into statement pieces of art, something awesome that you would want to display in your home.

I taught myself to wire wrap, I began wire wrapping all types of objects but ultimately ended up selecting gemstone cabochons, beads, sea shells and beach pebbles to wrap.  I handcrafted each one into individual pieces of jewellery, now a new love of mine.  I started to adventure more locally, and with my sidekick, my gorgeous girl Yuki (my Japanese Spitz fur baby) by my side, we started collecting beach pebbles.  I now polish all our collected pebbles in my numerous rock tumbler’s and I love to create unique, one of a kind pieces of jewellery with my super smooth and polished stones and transform them into gorgeous jewellery, wearable pieces of art.

My biggest regret is… I didn't quit my 9 to 5 job years ago, to fulfil my passion for art and craft and being creative.
