About Girl in the Garage

Girl in the Garage was created a couple of years ago when I changed career paths and left my management position in a highly stressful working industry to look after my terminally ill father.  During that time I had more of an opportunity to pursue my love of art and craft and to learn a few new craft techniques and turned my garage into an Art Studio.  I collected preloved furniture and was given lots of furniture too. I started painting again and revamped each piece of furniture Shabby Chic style transforming them into something special, statement pieces of furniture. 

Several months ago I learnt to wire wrap gemstone cabochons and beads, sea shells and beach pebbles and handcrafted them into jewellery, now a new love of mine. I collect beach pebbles and then polish them in my rock tumblers to create unique, one of a kind pieces jewellery and wearable art. My only regret is that I didn't quit my 9 to 5 job years earlier to fulfil my passion for art and craft and being creative.
